Nesta pesquisa, foi realizada a busca de partituras manuscritas do final do século XIX e início do XX para banda militares brasileiras que integram o universo do choro. Mediante a análise de diversas peças encontrados nos arquivos do acervo da Banda do 3º Batalhão de Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais, situada em Diamantina, foi definida uma edição prática para as seguintes formações: banda militar, duo instrumental (melodia e baixo) e melodia com harmonia cifrada. Foram editados um total de dez obras: 2 quadrilhas, 2 polcas, 4 tangos brasileiros, 1 schottisch e 1 valsa brasileira. O seguinte procedimento metodológico foi adotado: a) a confecção de edições fac-símiles dos manuscritos; b) a investigação dos aspectos técnicos e idiomáticos instrumentais; c) a elaboração da edição prática.

The object of this research is handwritten scores of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries for Brazilian military bands that integrate the “Choro” universe. Through analysis of dozens of works found in the archives of the collection of the Band of the 3rd Military Police Battalion of Minas Gerais, located in Diamantina, a practical edition was defined for the following instrumental formations: military band, instrumental duo (melody and bass) and one melodic instrument with harmonic accompaniment. A total of ten works were edited: 2 reel dances, 2 polcas, 4 Brazilian tangos, 1 schottisch and 1 Brazilian waltz. The following methodological procedures were adopted: a) the preparation of facsimile editions of the manuscripts; b) the investigation of instrumental technical and idiomatic aspects of the material; c) the preparation of the practical edition.
