About PPGEdu
MISSION
Since the beginning, it has been working in compliance with UNIRIO’s Institutional Development Plan (PDI - Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional) and Institutional Pedagogical Project (PPI - Projeto Pedagógico Institucional), not only in regulations ruling the offered courses, but, most of all, through the work of its faculty and students on issues associated with the Education Field, from different teaching and research perspectives, as well as from those associated with multi, inter and transdisciplinary work with other knowledge fields.
Research carried out in this Program focuses on scientific fields, such as Early Childhood Education and Literacy, Youth and Adult Education, Integral Education, Science and Education, Cinema and Education, Assessment and Discipline Matrix, and History of Education.
AIMS
Aimed at emphasizing research and critical reflection in an environment of knowledge production in education; at training and qualifying professors to work in higher education courses; as well as at training and qualifying researchers in the education field to work with individuals accounting for developing and implementing public policies focused on education, the profile of the Post-Graduation Program in Education at Unirio is featured by:
- Knowledge production through different theoretical-methodological approaches to consolidate both teaching and student productions of interdisciplinary and interinstitutional nature, as well as of local, national and international impact;
- Emphasis on research about practices and policies taking place in the education field, from both the micro and macrosocial perspectives;
- The link between Post-Graduation and Undergraduate Program research, which opens room for an integrated critical body and expands new researchers’ training;
SPECIFIC AIMS
Taking as a reference the history, contextualization and general objective previously presented, the Postgraduate Program in Education has specific objectives:
- Promoting systematic research and reflections about issues associated with interfaces between training processes and social inequalities in the Education field;
- Promoting qualified researchers’ training in the Education field;
- Contributing to both expanding and integrating knowledge fields that either directly or indirectly communicate with, and contribute to, the educational field;
- Promoting exchanges at both national and international levels in the Education field, mainly, in those most directly linked to research lines adopted by PPGEdu;
- Promoting integration between teaching and research within the scope of the Post-Graduation Program in Education, as well as deepening the relationship between Post-Graduation and Undergraduate Studies, as well as between teaching systems and Basic Education.
