Credit system
Theoretical vs Practical credits
At UNIRIO, a course may have theoretical and/or practical credits. When it comes to theoretical credits, a credit corresponds to 15 hours of classes, while regarding practical credits, a credit corresponds to 30 hours of activities. For instance, the "Oral and Written Expression" course has 3 credits with a total course load of 60 hours, divided between 2 theoretical credits (summing up 30 hours of classes) and 1 practical credit (30 hours of activities). You can check the amount of credits and course load of each course on the “Syllabuses” of each course.
UNIRIO's credit system vs European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)
Taking into consideration the course load of our credit system, we suggest that 1 UNIRIO credit equals to 1,5 ECTS credit, but it is up to the home university to decide into this matter.
Minimum and maximum of courses
For regular mobility students from partner universities, the student has to enroll in at least 3 courses per semester.
For free movers from non-partner universities, the student can enroll at up to 2 courses per semester. It is not allowed for this kind of student to enroll in 3 or more courses.
Graduate students interested in mobility should contact PROPGI directly.
Grades
Our grades go from 0 to 10. If the student gets a grade equal or higher than 7 in their exams, they are approved. If the grade is less than 4, the student fails. Between 4 and 7, they have to take a Final Exam, in which they have to score 5 or higher to be approved.
