Rules for the defense of master's dissertation project and ph.d. thesis project

RULES FOR THE DEFENSE OF MASTER'S DISSERTATION PROJECT AND Ph.D. THESIS PROJECT 

          The rules below were set forth and approved by the PPGAN committee on October 21, 2015. Amendments approved by the PPGAN Committee on 11/23/2016; 11/06/2018 and 11/11/2021

 I - The student must defend the dissertation project up to a maximum of seven (7) months or the thesis project up to a maximum of 12 months after joining the PPGAN.

II - The dissertation/thesis project examining Committee must be composed as established in article 61 of the PPGAN Regulation, approved by the PPGAN committee and still be maintained in the defense of the dissertation/thesis, as established in article 58 of the PPGAN regulation.

III - The supervisor, through a letter, must forward to the PPGAN secretariat the composition of the examining Committee and the date of defense of the dissertation or thesis project with the title of the project within 60 days prior to this

IV - The coordination will convene the PPGAN committee, with up to 30 days in advance of the defense date, for approval by the examining Committee

V - The selection of the examining Committee is up to the advisor, who is also responsible for inviting the chosen members

VI - The PPGAN secretariat will make broad disclosure of the defense at least 15 days in advance of the defense date

VII - The secretariat will issue a certificate of participation for the board's components, which will be digitally signed by the coordination

VIII - The advisor, president of the examining Committee, is responsible for the minutes of the defense, which must follow the standard model, available on the PPGAN website. The same must be completed and sent to the secretariat, digitally, within 48 hours after the date of the defense. The secretariat will collect signatures via the Asten platform.
