III International Training Course

“Proteins as Cellular Nanomachines: Molecular Motors, Channels & Pumps”

III International Symposium on Myosin V

Rio de Janeiro

Armação de Búzios

Jul 10-21, 2006

It is our great pleasure to extend you an invitation to participate in the III International Symposium on Myosin V (Jul 14th – 17th) and III International Training Course: Proteins as Cellular Nanomachines: Molecular Motors, Channels & Pumps (Jul 10th - 13th and 18th – 21st), which will be held in Rio de Janeiro and in Armação de Búzios.

The course will be held in Rio. The main topic will be Molecular Motors, Channels & Pumps. The idea is to give us a relaxed atmosphere to talk about cell biology, together with 20 advanced students. We plan to have two 1.5 h lectures (each morning) and 4 students passing each day with an investigator who have made important contributions to our understanding of the molecular basis of cell. It is supposed that each researcher has to be at least for 7 days in the course (four lab days and during the Symposium), but if it is his preference he can stay for the whole period.

Búzios, located in the Rio de Janeiro coast, will provide us a relaxed atmosphere to talk about cytoskeleton, cell motility, and the roles of class V myosins. One full day will be dedicated to a social and schooner ride along the coast. We are planning talks by investigators who have made important contributions to the understanding of the molecular basis of cell understanding. We also will have a poster section where recent results on cellular and molecular aspects of cell biology can be presented and discussed.
